Guest lecture at AHO 2011

I was invited back to my school, Oslo School of Architecture & Design, to give an open guest lecture about design process, and the development of Kongsberg Maritime K-Master operator chair in particular. The lecture was held february 24th 2011.

“K-Master aft bridge; a product development process where industrial design as a strategic tool helped to create a revolution in a conservative industry”.

Kongsberg Maritime decided to develop a new product, with the goal of recapturing the leading market position for aft bridge products. Industrial design was chosen as the key driver, in order to progress from a repetitive component re-use philosophy, to focusing on the user, user interaction and function. The result became a compact workstation where simplicity and essentiality has lead to a product with improved safety which encompasses Kongsberg Maritimes values.
